Joen Mawashi is a karate club founded in 1975 and located in Joensuu, Finland. We train Wadō-Ryū style of karate according to the technical standards set by JKF Wadōkai in Tokyo, Japan. In short, Wadō-Ryū consists of Okinawan karate techniques mixed with Japanese jūjutsu arts principles. We have around 130 members, the youngest from 7 years old up to over 60 years old.
The dōjō (training place) is located at Urheilutalo (sports hall), Koskikatu 12, 80100 Joensuu. We have training sessions on almost every day of the week. The kids and young people train in their own groups and the adults train in their own. Our instructors have solid experience in karate and teaching. We offer high quality training with a pleasant and encouraging atmosphere.
If you already have previous karate experience, you can consider joining our regular classes. In case you have never done karate before and are interested to try, you are welcome to join our beginner’s course. The beginner’s courses start every February and September. You can try the course for free for two weeks and students are eligible for a discount.
